Hey there! My name is Brittney (I'm on the left), I come from a family of eight. I have one older brother, three younger, and three older sisters. Life is most definitely always an experience. I work with my dad at a restaurant where he is a partial owner, working as a line cook and an expeditor. Working with my dad has it's ups and downs, but I love it. I'm 17 going on 18 and I am a PSEO student from Ogilvie High School. I have been on the diving and swimming team all throughout high school and I enjoy doing it very much and hope to continue it after I graduate. I hope to go to St. Cloud State. I am still unsure of what I want to major in. I have changed my mind several times. I do know for sure I would like to minor in photography though. It has been one of my big passions throughout life. I am currently living in Anoka. I take classes at Cambridge because my mom lives in Ogilvie and that's where I was previously living, so when I am there it makes getting to Cambridge a lot easier. I have always taken an interest in writing, but I have only done it on a more private level and haven't let anyone read anything that I have ever written. I took this class to learn a different way of writing and to maybe, get some of my stuff "out there".
Very interesting that you write only a "private level". I have a hard time getting myself to overcome fear of rejection long enough to interview someone or try to get anything published. Hopefully, this class will get us both out of our comfort zone and nudge us toward our goal of publication.
ReplyDeleteI admire that you have taken the advantage of PSEO opportunities, attend high school, and work. You appear to be very ambitious; this attribute will bring you far in life.
ReplyDeleteHayley: I sure hope this class helps us to move away from that "private level" of writing. I am glad I'm not alone! Maybe we will be able to help each other throughout the semester!
ReplyDeleteKristy: Throughout my whole life I have been told I should be way older than what I am. I'm a very motivated person and love going above and beyond. Thank you for admiring that.
Nice to meet you, Brittney! This class should push you as you will be sharing what you've written not just with me, but your classmates and, hopefully, a broader newspaper-reading audience. The thing to remember is that you can take editing comments negatively, or you can take them as good advice on how to make what you've got better. It doesn't mean you are a terrible writer. Far from that! Everyone -- even veteran writers -- benefit from an editor and writing community who can point out any errors or merely places where things don't flow as well as you want them to. I hope you take all that you can out of this experience! I am really looking forward to reading your stories.
ReplyDeleteHi there Brittney. My name is Trevor. I found it interesting that you work at a restaurant with your dad. I too work at a restaurant (bartend at olive garden) so I can sympathize with your troubles. However, i'm sure working with your father might add a degree of difficulty.
ReplyDeleteHello Brittney, Im Jessica. I think it is awesome you are getting a head start on college. The PSEO program is amazing. They did not offer that at the high school I went to down in Texas. Also having your dad as your boss could actually have its perks :) Good luck on your studies!
